Vehicle Damage Appraisal Procedures

Your Appraisal
The Premier Appraiser will conduct an initial inspection of your vehicle and will provide a copy of the appraisal to you. You
may take your car or truck to the shop of your choice with your appraisal. The initial appraisal is for visible damage only and is not an authorization to repair the vehicle. The owner of the vehicle must authorize repairs.
Here are some of our Drive-In Appraisal Locations
Additional Damage/Supplements
If additional, related damage is found
on the car that was hidden at the time
of the original inspection, the body shop
should contact Premier. Premier will arrange to inspect
the additional damages and write
a supplemental appraisal if necessary.
Total Loss
If your vehicle is a total loss, a claim
handler will contact you to explain the
settlement process to you. We may
want to move your vehicle to a salvage
facility, and your cooperation is necessary
to help get the vehicle released
and have your personal belongings removed
from the vehicle before it is moved.
Deductible
Deductibles apply to most comprehensive
losses, such as fire or vandalism.
A deductible will also apply to collision
losses in certain circumstances. Your
claim handler will answer any questions
you may have regarding deductibles.
Rental
You may have purchased rental
reimbursement coverage with your
policy. Several levels of coverage are
available, and you should contact
your claim handler to confirm your
coverage. Your claim handler will
also be able to put you in touch with
a rental agent to help you with your
needs, or you can call directly:

Please have your claim number
available.
Surcharge
Surcharges are mandated under
Massachusetts law in certain circumstances.
You will be surcharged if you
are more than 50% at fault for the
accident and Premier has paid more than
$500 either for your collision damage
or for damage to property owned by
other parties. The surcharge notice
will include instructions as to the
process, including how to appeal the
surcharge.
Salvage/Aftermarket Parts
As required by regulations that
govern the appraisal process, your
appraisal may include parts that are
of like kind and quality as the original
manufactured parts. The parts
may be used or from aftermarket
suppliers and are documented on
your damage appraisal.
Betterment & Depreciation
Certain parts on your vehicle will wear
from use and, as a result, depreciate
in value. If any of these parts need to
be replaced as part of your loss, your
appraisal may include a deduction for
betterment or depreciation of those
parts.
Lienholder
If you have a lease or loan outstanding
for your automobile, there will be
a lienholder listed on your policy. In
this case, it is our obligation to name
the lienholder on the check that is
mailed directly to you for the damage
to your auto. You should contact your
lienholder before you attempt to
negotiate the check.
Registered Shops & Referral Lists
Premier has a list of
registered body shops within the
county in which you live and/or
work to choose where to have your
automobile repaired. These shops
have met at least minimum requirements
to be on this list. Certain
shops have signed a contract with
Premier to guarantee the quality of
the materials and workmanship used
in making the repairs. These shops
are shown in bold print. Premier will be
happy to explain the referral shop
program to you.
Our Service Standards
We are confident of Premier's
ability to meet or exceed our customers’
expectations. We are here to
handle your claim as professionally
and promptly as possible.
